Raffaella Patmore, Business Development Manager

1.     Tell us about your role at VC Innovations – what do you actually do, and what’s the best part of it?

As business development manager, I’m responsible for commercial partnerships across the FTT and FID portfolio. I research and approach business who could sponsor one of our events and then maintain that relationship to ensure we have a long-term partnership. As a natural extrovert and yapper, the best part of my job is speaking to everyone and making new connections.

2.     What’s one unexpected skill (or completely random talent) you have that helps you at work?

It’s not really an unexpected skill for my role, but I am just very good at striking up a conversation with anyone.

3.     Explain ‘What VC Innovations does?’ – in 15 words or less.

VC Innovations help solution providers connect with potential clients though our business development program to help with demand generation and grown pipelines. We also have some pretty great content.

4.     If you could swap jobs with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?

Would it be too obvious if I said Victor? If not Victor than I would say Aasiya as I wouldn’t mind experiencing a day on opps. However, I don’t think I’m organised enough to do that job and would ruin everything, so it’s a good thing we’re not job swapping.

5.     Would you describe yourself as an AI expert, dabbler, or Sceptic?

I would describe as an AI dabbler.

6.     AI + Me: How do you use AI in your role?

As a dyslexic, ChatGPT is very useful to restructure my emails to make sure they make sense. It’s also good to use for research on potential clients to see how they would fit into our event offerings and how we can help them.

7.     Biggest win, biggest lesson, or funniest career fail – what’s something that’s shaped how you work today?

At the start of 2024 I did a career change and went into product placement. Although it sounded good on paper, it wasn’t really for me. But it did make me realise that I really enjoy working in events and in sales, so I took that as a 5-month lesson.
