1. Tell us about your role at VC Innovations – what do you actually do, and what’s the best part of it?
I’m the Speaker Acquisition Manager, which means I’m basically a professional matchmaker… but with speakers. My job is to track down the best experts in FTT Mutuals and FTT Lending and convince them that our events are the ones they really want to speak at. The best part? Not only do I get to bring incredible speakers on board, but I also get to hear their insights firsthand.
2. What’s one unexpected skill (or completely random talent) you have that helps you at work?
One unexpected skill I have is my love for puzzle solving. It helps me piece together the perfect speaker lineup by connecting the right people, topics, and timing. It’s all about fitting the right pieces together to create a seamless and engaging event!
3. Explain ‘What VC Innovations does?’ – in 15 words or less.
We craft bespoke marketing strategies, create thought-provoking content, and deliver impactful B2B event experiences.
4. If you could swap jobs with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d swap with someone in the marketing team. It seems like a lot of fun—being creative, crafting campaigns, and seeing how those campaigns drive real results.
5. Would you describe yourself as an AI expert, dabbler, or Sceptic?
I’m a dabbler. I use AI as my research assistant—It helps me dig through vast amounts of information.
6. AI + Me: How do you use AI in your role?
AI is like my personal research assistant. It helps me analyse trends and even generate ideas for questions when I’m making panel briefing. It’s like a brainstorming buddy who’s always available.
7. Biggest win, biggest lesson, or funniest career fail – what’s something that’s shaped how you work today?
Biggest win : One of my biggest wins was curating a cross-industry session that sparked amazing collaborations, teaching me the value of diverse perspectives and thinking outside the box.
Biggest lesson : One of the biggest lessons I learned was when I was still in the bank. I helped a frustrated client with a custom solution, which reinforced the importance of empathy, truly understanding customer needs, and collaborating with other units to deliver the best outcome for the client.
Funniest career fail : Early in my banking career, I rushed through explaining a complex financial product to a client and ended up making things even more confusing for them! It taught me the importance of simplifying and being patient. Now, I apply that lesson when curating event content—ensuring it’s clear, relevant, and easy for everyone to understand.
